Board Recap: RVC PD's Executive Team to Receive Elite Training

Top cops will train at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Rockville Centre Police Department's Lt. Chris Romance will head to the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA in October for a 10-week professional training regiment, becoming the third of the department's four-team executive staff to undergo the training.

Commissioner Charles Gennario said it is very difficult to get just one officer into the training course, let alone have the department's highest ranking officials enter the program. He explained that the department has forged a good relationship with the FBI's Long Island Bureau, and that helped get RVC's finest into the program.

By the end of March, the department will have four of its highest ranking officers graduate from the course.

Gennario explained that Romance will take graduate classes in law enforcement during the ten weeks at Quantico, as well as physical fitness and shooting tests.

Fire Department Chief John Busching said to get a spot in the training course is "an incredible accomplishment and privilege."

"It's a tremendous reflection of the department," Busching said. "It's like going to the Harvard or Yale of law enforcement."

Romance leaves on Oct. 2.
