In police news, there's been a rash of home break-ins within the last few weeks, and officer Chris O'Connor was named the by the police department as its "Cop of the Month" after his alert police work led to the arrest of five violent gang members. A man who set up a rendez-vouz at a parking lot near Morgan Day's Field with a woman he had met on the Internet, was robbed at gunpoint after they met up.
In school news, we posted recaps on the boy's and girl's 2010 soccer seasons and profiled a local RVC resident who helped Sacred Heart Academy's swim team set a Catholic High School record in the 400-meter freestyle relay race during a recent tournament in Buffalo. We also profiled the eight South Side High School athletes who signed their national letter of intent to play a specific sport in college for the 2011-12 school year.

In community news, Holistic health coach Judy Griffin offered some pointers on how to have a healthier holiday, and Patch detailed the village's November house sales, as well as this weekend's open houses.
