1 Hudson Valley ZIP Code Among 100 Most Expensive In Country

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — There is no question that real estate in the Hudson Valley demands a steep price, but a just released study found one Hudson Valley ZIP code is among the most expensive in the entire country.

PropertyShark's annual ranking of the 100 priciest ZIP codes in the U.S. listed one Westchester County community among the very highest priced. The 10580 ZIP code in Rye is ranked 89 on the list, with a listed median sale price of $1.873 million. While Rye has been on the list for six years in a row, it dropped down from number 72 in 2021.

In order to determine the most expensive ZIP codes, PropertyShark said that it considered all home transactions that were closed between set dates in January and October of 2022. The full "100 Most Expensive U.S. Zip Codes in 2022" report can be found here.

"Once again, ranking zip codes by median sale prices — calculated from actual closed sales to reflect real market conditions, instead of listing prices that represent sellers’ goals — this year’s top 100 proved that the wealthiest zip codes for real estate have overwhelmingly become even more expensive," according to the Property Shark report.

California claimed 90 of the most expensive ZIP codes in the country — the most of any state. New York had the second most with 17 ZIP codes making the list, representing 13 percent of the richest zip codes in the U.S. The study found that while NYC traditionally ranked more zip codes than the Hamptons and the North Shore combined, the COVID-19 pandemic flipped that. While Suffolk County had nine zip codes on the list compared to NYC's six zip codes this year, the North Shore's Old Westbury also made the list.
