Top 2 Wealthiest Suburbs In US Are In Westchester, New Report Finds

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — California suburbs dominated the list of "America’s Wealthiest Suburbs," but the top two spots were right here in Westchester County, according to a new report.

The finance site GOBankingRates set out to find which suburbs are home to some of the wealthiest Americans. The study's authors surveyed all cities with 5,000 or more households and isolated the 50 cities with the highest average household income with data from the American Community Survey. The 2024 typical home value and metro area location, with data from Zillow, were then sourced to determine the wealthiest suburbs.

Their research found some surprising, and not so surprising conclusions.

New York suburbs may have beat out California for the number one and number two wealthiest suburbs in America, but California suburbs were much more represented among the top 50.

Scarsdale with an average income of $569,000 and Rye with an average income of $405,000 led the pack . Harrison was the only other nearby suburb to crack the top 50, with an average income of $257,000.

Outside of the greater New York City area, just one northeastern suburb managed to make the top ten. Wellesley, MA ranked No. 10 overall with an average household income of $368,000.
