Fred Will Bring Rain To LI, But Henri's The One To Watch
The remnants of Tropical Storm Fred could produce damaging winds Thursday, but Henri looms much larger for the weekend.

LONG ISLAND, NY — The remnants of Tropical Storm Fred will bring heavy rain and thunderstorms to Long Island Thursday before all eyes turn toward Tropical Storm Henri, which is expected to strengthen into a hurricane off the Carolinas this weekend.
A hazardous weather outlook is in effect for the island thanks to Fred, which does have the potential to produce damaging winds and an isolated tornado, the National Weather Service said. The highest threat for severe weather will remain north and west of island.
The heaviest rain from Fred is likely Thursday morning. A chance of showers will remain through the afternoon.

And then there's Henri. The weather service said it's "closely monitoring" the storm, which is currently strengthening in the western Atlantic Ocean. Henri is expected to reach hurricane strength by Saturday morning when it will likely be a few hundreds miles off the Carolinas.
Any impacts to Long Island wouldn't arrive until later in the day Saturday.

Here's what the National Hurricane Center had to say about the storm in a forecast discussion Wednesday morning:
Uncertainty in the track forecast for Henri this weekend and early next week is larger than usual, and there is some risk of direct impacts from Henri in portions of the northeastern U.S. and Atlantic Canada during that time. Interests in these areas should follow updates to the forecast through the next several days.

Well, this would be quite an expensive disaster if it were to verify (not saying that it will). A slow moving CAT1 hurricane making landfall in Long Island would produce wind and flood damage throughout New England. Timing here is for a Sunday or Monday landfall. pic.twitter.com/Y2XPv9kYgt
