The Lookout Celebrates Grand Opening In West Sayville

SAYVILLE, NY — A Long Island bar and restaurant celebrated its grand opening on Friday evening.

The Lookout, a bar and restaurant with "amazing views," opened last fall in West Sayville. Nearly a year later, The Lookout hosted its grand opening with live music, drinks and that amazing view.

The bar is owned by four partners and old friends—Nikki Panzarino, Dave Prunier, Greg Wright and Phil Capobianco—all area locals and Long Island restaurant industry veterans.

"We came up with the name The Lookout because of the amazing view we have of the West Sayville Golf Course, and on a clear day, the Great South Bay and Fire Island," Panzarino told Patch.

The Lookout's patrons enjoy a laid-back sports bar atmosphere with a seaside vibe in a revamped space that formerly housed Scotty's Pub next to Audrey’s Bakery on Montauk Highway.

The Lookout has a full bar, lots of beers on tap, and a menu featuring everything from a charcuterie board, perogies, quesadillas, and coconut shrimp to sandwiches, salads, wraps, and paninis, including a spicy fried chicken and waffle sandwich.

The Lookout also features happy hour five days a week, Game Day specials, live music and party packages.

"We are very grateful for all first responders and offer a 15-percent discount all day, every day for them," Panzarino said.

Panzarino, Prunier and Capobianco all hail from Sayville, while Wright is from Bayport.

Before opening The Lookout, Panzarino spent the last three years of her 15-year career in the industry as general manager of Sayville Bait and Tackle. Prunier is one of the owners of Sayville Athletic Club and the Great South Bar in Patchogue and is an active member with the Sayville Chamber of Commerce. Wright's bartending skills span numerous local bars, including the Portly Villager in Sayville and the Village Idiot in Patchogue, pouring drinks for each one for over a decade. Phil is a chef who studied at the Culinary Institute of America and owns a Cafe in Westhampton Beach called Cafe Volo.

With the first year almost a wrap, Panzarino and friends are looking forward to the future and are here to stay.

"Our goal is to provide the best hospitality while making our customers feel like they are at home," she said.

The Lookout is located at 227 Montauk Hwy. in West Sayville.

It is open Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. and Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to midnight.
