New Discount Furniture Store Opens On Long Island

A nationwide discount furniture store is celebrating the grand opening of its newest location on Long Island this week.

BOHEMIA, NY— Bob's Discount Furniture is opening a new Long Island location in Bohemia, company spokesperson Ashley Flores told Patch.

The furniture franchise will celebrate the new store with a grand opening and ribbon-cutting on Friday at 9 a.m.

The new 21,222 square-foot store, which Flores said has "been in the works for over a year," will occupy the former Bed Bath & Beyond building on Sunrise Highway and will feature a cafe with free snacks for visitors.

According to the spokesperson, the Bohemia location will be the 195th location for the nationwide retailer, which operates stores in 24 states.

During the grand opening event, $5,000 in donations will be presented to John Pearl Elementary School and Bethany House, which offers a haven for women and mothers with children facing homelessness. Free entertainment and face painting will also be offered.

Founded in 1991, the Manchester, Connecticut-based company has become the 9th-largest U.S. furniture chain according to Furniture Today and ranked #12 by HomeNewsNow on their 125 Furniture and Bedding Retailers 2024 list.

According to the company's website, Bob's has been recognized by Newsweek as one of America’s Greatest Workplaces, America’s Greatest Workplaces for Diversity, America’s Greatest Workplaces for Parents and Families, and America’s Greatest Workplaces for LGBTQ+.

The company's careers page currently has two jobs posted for the new Bohemia location, including Retail Sales Associate and Part-Time Warehouse Associate and other open vacancies around Long Island.

The New Bob’s Discount Furniture is located at 5131 Sunrise Hwy. in Bohemia.
