Sayville School District Budget Vote: What You Need To Know

Here's what you need to know before you cast your ballot in Sayville.

SAYVILLE, NY — Sayville residents will head to the polls Tuesday to cast their ballots in the 2023 to 2024 school budget vote and school board candidate election.

The Sayville School District's proposed budget of $102,048,891 with a budget-to-budget increase of $2,746,734 or 2.77 percent and a tax levy increase of 2.85 percent. The budget needs a simple majority to pass, its website said.

The budget aims to support phase one of a five-year plan to provide: more science, engineering, mathematics, technology opportunities at all levels; expansion of the music and arts programs; expansion of World Language programs at the elementary level; and additional Universal Pre-K sections in each elementary school.

In addition to the budget, board of education candidates James J. Bertsch, Jr. and Thomas Cooley are both running unopposed. Marianne Bastian is running for the library seat, also unopposed.
