The DOT said its Sunrise Highway (NYS Route 27) Oakdale Merge Planning Feasibility Study is underway to identify "existing deficiencies and determine alternatives for operational, safety and mobility improvements," according to a letter from the agency to Andrew Garbarino, a New York state assemblyman.

Attempts to reach Garbarino were unavailing.

"At this stage of the study's development, NYSDOT is actively seeking participation, comments, ideas and feedback from local community groups in the area," the letter said.

The study is tentatively scheduled to be completed by the end of January 2019, according to the letter.
