• Fire district commissioner dies after suffering cardiac arrest on duty (star-telegram.com) — A longtime Phoenicia firefighter and fire district commissioner died Saturday evening after suffering sudden cardiac arrest while responding to an injured hiker on a trail in the town of Shandaken. Despite immediate aid from fellow firefighters, Shandaken police, EMS, and state forest rangers, he could not be revived. Local officials and colleagues are remembering his decades of service to the community.
