1 Charged With Gun Possession After Scuffle In Mastic Beach: Police

Two men were in a physical fight on Sunday night, and one flashed a gun, and though not shot, he was injured in the scuffle, cops say.

MASTIC BEACH, NY — A man was charged with gun possession after being injured in a scuffle when he flashed a gun at another man in Mastic Beach on Sunday night, Suffolk police said.

The two men were in a physical fight on Mastic Beach Road at around 7:41 p.m., and John Napierkowski waved a gun, police said, adding that he was not shot but did receive non-life-threatening injuries "during the altercation" and was treated and released from a local hospital.

Napierkowski, 37, of Mastic Beach, was charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and menacing, police said.
