1 Taken To Hospital After Vehicle Strikes Building In Shirley: Police

SEE PHOTOS: The driver refused medical attention, but an employee of one of the businesses was taken to a local hospital, cops say.

SHIRLEY, NY — A vehicle struck a deli inside a strip mall in Shirley on Friday afternoon, authorities said.

A 2023 Subaru struck the Parkway Deli on William Floyd Parkway at around 12:35 p.m., according to authorities.

The driver, a 69-year-old Shirley woman, refused medical attention, but an employee of one the businesses that was struck was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue for treatment of minor injuries, Suffolk police said.

No tickets were issued, according to police.

In addition to Suffolk police, at least five different agencies responded to the scene, including the Mastic Ambulance Company, the Brookhaven Fire Department, and Brookhaven Town fire marshals and buildings departments.
