3 Hurt In DWI Crash In Mastic: Police

A vehicle driven southbound by a drunken driver struck another vehicle headed northbound on Saturday afternoon, Suffolk cops say.

MASTIC, NY — Two people were hurt when a vehicle driven by a drunken driver struck the vehicle they were in head-on in Mastic on Saturday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

A 39-year-old Mastic woman was driving a 2015 Nissan southbound on Mastic Road, when it crossed into the lane of travel of a 2012 Dodge that was northbound at the intersection, near Dover Avenue, at around 3:30 p.m., according to police.

A female driver and a passenger in the Dodge suffered minor injuries and were taken to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk in East Patchogue, police said.

The 39-year-old woman was taken to Southside Hospital for treatment of minor injuries, according to police.

She was charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.
