5-Alarm Commercial Building Blaze Draws Area Fire Departments To Mastic

MASTIC, NY — Suffolk Arson Squad detectives are investigating a five-alarm fire broke out at a commercial building in Mastic on Sunday night, drawing area firefighters, authorities said.

Emergency Medical Technicians from Mastic Ambulance contacted the Suffolk's Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Services just before 8 p.m. to alert firefighters that the roof of a commercial building on Montauk Highway, near Lambert Avenue, was on fire, and the Mastic Fire Department was activated, according to a photographer at the scene.

Firefighters stretched multiple lines and put up two ladders while fighting the blaze over two hours.

The cause of the fire has not been determined.

In addition to the Mastic Fire Department, four fire departments responded, including Mastic Beach, Brookhaven, Yaphank, and Center Moriches.

The Manorville Fire Department remained on stand-by.

Three ambulance companies responded to the scene, including Mastic, Mastic Beach, and Shirley.

The Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal's office also responded.
