Middle Island Man Charged With 5 Shirley Area Break-Ins At Businesses: Suffolk Police
UPDATE: He was nabbed after burglarizing a pizzeria, but also broke into another two businesses -- one on three occasions, Suffolk cops say.
SHIRLEY, NY — Suffolk police now say the Middle Island man arrested in connection with a break-in at a pizzeria in Shirley early Sunday is also responsible for four other similar burglaries at multiple businesses in the area over the past several weeks.
Police say George Dimou was identified after an investigation by the detectives from the 7th Squad in Shirley.
The burglaries range from June 2 to Sunday, according to police.

Dimou, 55, broke the glass door of Carlo's Pizza on Glen Drive at around 3 a.m., and then bolted with some cash, police said. He was arrested at around 15 hours later at 5:45 p.m. on Sunday and charged with five counts of third-degree burglary, a felony.
He was additionally charged in connection with burglarizing Andy’s Nails on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley, on June 2, and Carvel on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley on three separate occasions — June 15, June 22, and July 5.

Dimou was also charged with three counts of third-degree criminal mischief and fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, both felonies. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Monday at First District Court in Central Islip, online court records show.
His bail was set at $100,000, $200,000 insured bond, or $1 million surety bond, the records show.
He is being represented by The Legal Aid Society, which does not comment on cases.
