Elderly Man Seriously Hurt In Long Island House Fire; Arson Investigates: Police

UPDATE: The man, whose name was withheld, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of injuries, police say.

MIDDLE ISLAND, NY — Arson Squad detectives are investigating a fire in which an elderly man was seriously hurt at a Middle Island home on Wednesday, Suffolk police said.

The fire broke out at the Monet Court home at around 8:12 p.m., police said.

He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment, according to police.

His name is being withheld pending the notification of his family, police said.

A preliminary investigation determined the cause of the fire to be non-criminal in nature, according to police.
