Emaciated Dog Found In Suffolk Dies; Police Seek Information

Police are seeking information after a severely emaciated dog died during surgery in Mastic.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — A dog was found severely emaciated in Mastic and later died, police said.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and detectives from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office's

biological, environmental and animal safety team, called BEAST, are seeking information
regarding the dog, police said.

A good Samaritan found a severely underweight Rhodesian Ridgeback in Mastic on July
19, police said. The dog was taken to Brookhaven Animal Shelter and died during surgery, police said.
