Fire In Wooded Area In Mastic Takes 2 Hours To Douse

MASTIC, NY — Two fires broke out in the woods in Mastic hours apart on Friday, one of which had multiple areas and took two hours to extinguish, firefighters said.
Just before 1 p.m., the Mastic Fire Department was called to Mastic Road and Clinton Avenue for a fire in the woods, and they found multiple fires.
Altogether four agencies responded, including the Brookhaven and Manorville fire departments with firefighters and brush trucks, and the Mastic Ambulance Company stood by.

Firefighters also responded to the area earlier in the morning at 7:20 a.m. to another fire in the woods which was determined to be a couch.
The cause of either fire has not been determined.
