  1. A Saint Patrick’s Day Parade 2023 will be hosted just four miles from Shirley. Our neighbor town, Center Moriches, is hosting this fun event and inviting the public to march down Main Street!   2. Two William Floyd Middle School students participated in the NYSED Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Student Art & Essay Exhibition.   3. A celebration of the Chinese New Year – Year of the Rabbit kicks off on Sunday, Jan. 23, at 1 p.m. at the Mastic Beach branch of the MMS Community Library. Kids are invited to decorate a lantern and have fun learning about the Chinese calendar. (MMSCL)
  4. Suffolk Police alerted the public via social media on edible gummies with high amounts of THC found in organic products stores in Suffolk County. Those products were in packs that can be easily mistaken for candy by young kids. The apprehension is part of a cannabis inspection operation conducted early this week. Read the whole story here.
