  1. A driver from Ridge was arrested for a hit-and-run on Saturday morning. The incident happened on Union Boulevard in East Islip at 9:25 a.m. and injured a bicyclist. Police later identified and arrested the driver. (Shirley-Mastic Patch)
  2. Protestors were outside the district office on Northern Boulevard in Queens to request Rep. George Santos's resignation. Protests started last month after the New York Times published

  3. The next Mastic-Moriches-Shirley Community Library Board meeting is scheduled for Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. at the Mastic Recreation Center. (MMSCL)
  4. Save the date for the informational session about the Smith Point Bridge project at the William Floyd High School Auditorium on Jan. 18. The forum begins at 7 p.m. Suffolk officials will talk about the project, which is expected to start in 2024. The school is at 240 Mastic Beach Road in Mastic Beach.
