- A man was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery in Mastic Beach. According to the police, the man showed a knife to another person on Whittier Drive around 5 a.m. He stole cash from the victim and fled the scene. Police were able to relocate the suspect and press charges. (Patch)
- The Gateway Playhouse announced the new season of plays open in March featuring "Evita." The production shows Argentina between 1934 and 1952 and the journey of a young woman, Eva Duarte de Perón, who wanted to be an actress. (Patch Events)
