RIDGE, NY — A man was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon when his SUV was rear-ended by a minibus in Ridge, Suffolk police said.

A 22-year-old Coram was driving a 2012 Ford EC4 minibus westbound on Middle Country Road, just east of Ridge Road, when it rear-ended a 2010 Ford Escape just before 4 p.m., police said, adding that the force of the crash spun the SUV and pushed it into a westbound 2023 Ford F-150 being driven by a 59-year-old Shirley man.

The driver of the Escape, who is not being identified pending notification of his family, was taken by police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is in critical condition, police said.
