Man Dies After Double Hit-And-Run In Suffolk: Police

He was struck first by an SUV, then a sedan on Montauk Highway, Suffolk police said.

SHIRLEY, NY — A man was struck twice by vehicles that fled the scene in Shirley Tuesday night, Suffolk police said.

David Arnold, 48, was crossing the roadway northbound, in front of Walgreens on Montauk Highway, when he was struck by a SUV heading westbound on Montauk Highway that sped away from the scene, according to police.

Arnold was then run over by a westbound sedan, which fled northbound on William Floyd Parkway, at around 11:40 p.m., police said.

Arnold, a 48-year-old man whose last address is unknown, was taken by Suffolk police medevac helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

The investigation is continuing, police said.
