- This week, family and friends remembered the Mastic teen killed in a single-car crash in Holtsville. The 18-year-old was a student at William Floyd High. His family members released statements to honor his memory and paid condolences to the other victims of the tragedy. (Patch)

- A Suffolk cop viscerally attacked during an operation in Medford is expected to survive. The 26-year-old officer was in life support equipment at the Stony Brook Hospital.
