- Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library will welcome a Flushing Banking representative to help those who want advice to reach their financial goals in 2023. Visit here to register. (Patch Events)
- MMSC Library wants to support pets who need a new home! If you're going to help this cause, bring your donations to the Mastic Center from Jan. 2-13. - The Town of Brookhaven earns $910,000 in grants as part of the Flood Mitigation Project. The money will be invested to raise Bellhaven Road in Brookhaven. Floods and storms often impact the area. (Patchogue Patch)

- George Santo's case resulted in a new bill to help prevent future office-seekers from lying. The bill proposes that candidates present their educational history and background under oath. Punishment would be given to the ones who fabricate information to be elected. (Patch)
