Pedestrian Struck For 2nd Time This Week On Montauk Highway In Shirley: Police

It was near Ormond Place close to an area where another man was fatally struck in a double hit-and-run on Tuesday night, police said.

SHIRLEY, NY — A man was struck and injured on Montauk Highway in Shirley on Wednesday afternoon, close to where another man was fatally struck in a double hit-and-run on the prior night, Suffolk police said.

Officers responded to a call of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Montauk Highway, near Ormond Place, at around 5 p.m., according to police.

The pedestrian sustained non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Additional details were not available.

David Arnold, 48, was struck across from Walgreens, first by an SUV and then by a sedan that both sped away without stopping, police said. He died later at Stony Brook University Hospital.
