Police Sting Yields Arrests For Alcohol Sales To Minors
Investigators eye five businesses and nabbed three employees for compliance violations.
SHIRLEY-MASTIC BEACH, N.Y. — After an investigation of several area businesses, police arrested three employees at a gas station, deli and liquor store for selling alcohol to minors.
Suffolk County Police Department reports Vural Guleryuz 50, of Shirley, an employee of Ocean gas station at 980 Montauk Hwy., Cedric Lee Myles, 57, of Coram, an employee at Star Deli at 131 Lynbrook Dr.; James Cherette III, 38, of Holtsville, an employee of Shirley Liquors at 427 William Floyd Pkwy.; were charged with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child on Jan. 15.
Seventh Precinct Crime Section officers investigated five businesses for selling alcohol to minors after receiving numerous complaints from the public, police said. Each establishment was checked for complying with New York State law.
Neighborhood Wine & Liquor at 478 Neighborhood Rd. in Shirley and Track Gas Station at 310 Neighborhood Rd. in Mastic Beach, were in compliance, police said.
