  1. Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library will have a registration table for those who want to sign up for the Mastic Sports Club. Stop by on Saturday, Feb. 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the meeting room. If you can't make it that day, visit www.masticsportsclub.com or call 631-399-1550. (MMSCL)
  2. If you are excited to participate in the Shirley-Mastic neighborhood's St. Patrick's Day festivities, fill out your participation form on the Center Moriches Chamber of Commerce website. There will be a Princess Essay Contest, and you can also be part of the parade! (Center Moriches CofC)
  3. There is no question that Long Island is known for its beautiful beaches, restaurants, and history but have you seen the dark side of the Island? I recently came across a blog that lists the six creepiest' spots on Long Island. Of course, two abandoned Psychiatric Centers made it to the list! (Malorie's Adventures)
  4. A New York attorney triggered an investigation of catering company CulinArt, which serves Stony Brook University, for allegedly misreporting costs and sharing payments with the university. The investigation began due to a review of financial documents. Read the whole story here. (Statesman)

  • The Mastic Branch of the MMS Community Library is accepting donations of non-perishable food items to be donated to local pantries. Bring your items to the library through February if you are willing to support this cause and keep pantries stuffed for those in need in the neighborhood. (Patch)
  • Patchogue The Plaza Cinema & Media Centers features the return of the Arts Exhibition On Screen Series with unique displays of “Frida Kahlo,” “Easter in Art” and “I, Claude Monet.” The exhibition has over sixteen films that have been played worldwide.
