RV Catches Fire At Southaven County Park In Shirley: Fire Department

Crews found an RV in a "fully involved" fire and it was "quickly extinguished" by the Brookhaven, Mastic, and Yaphank fire departments.

SHIRLEY, NY — An RV caught fire in the campground of Southaven County Park in Shirley on Friday night, drawing area firefighters to the scene, the Brookhaven Fire Department said.

First responders were called to a location at River Road and Beatrice Drive at around 5:30 p.m., and the Mastic Fire Department extinguished the fire, Suffolk police said.

Crews found an RV "fully involved" in a fire, and members "quickly extinguished" the fire with help from the Mastic and Yaphank fire departments, according to the fire department.

The fire investigation was turned over to the county's Fire Marshal’s office, the department said.

The Brookhaven Fire Marshal also responded, but Suffolk police's Arson Squad was not activated, according to police
