- A special ceremony will be held at the VFW Post 414 to honor Eric Matthew Corn. He is being promoted to the Rank of Eagle Scout. The Eagle Award Ceremony is set for Jan. 14 at 1 p.m. Attendees will enjoy cake and coffee. (Moriches Chamber of Commerce)

- The Town of Brookhaven is launching the “Bark in the Mew Year” promotion in January to encourage people to adopt. The center offers a $65 fee per adoption, including free neutering or spaying, tests, vaccinations, and more.
