- Driver Stephanie Vilien-Morisseau was injured while driving on Sunrise Highway in East Patchogue. A tire on her car blew up, causing her vehicle to crash into a truck. William Florenzo of Mastic Beach suffered minor injuries. (Patchogue Patch)
- U.S. Representative and Republican candidate, Lee Zeldin, was assaulted during his speech in Rochester, New York, on Thursday. Zeldin resides in Shirley and is challenging incumbent Gov. Kathy Hochul in the November election. (Greater Long Island)
