  1. Shots were fired into a home in Mastic on Tuesday night on Mastic Boulevard around 7:35 p.m., but no injuries were reported. (Patch)
  2. On Tuesday, New York State Senator Anthony Palumbo (R-New Suffolk), Assemblyman Fred Thiele (I-Sag Harbor) and Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio (R-Riverhead) asked Gov. Kathy Hochul to open state testing sites in eastern Suffolk County, particularly on the East End, to meet the omicron-driven demand for testing. (Dan's Papers)
  3. Suffolk police are asking the public for information about a woman who stole packages from a Stony Brook porch on Dec. 19. It happened on Stony Brook Road around 8 p.m. and the woman's image was captured on a security camera. (Patch)
  4. Suffolk airports are getting federal funding as part of the Infrastructure Act. Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma got $4,287,127, Brookhaven Calebro Airport in Shirley got $295,000 and the Bayport Aerodrome received $110,000. (Long Island Press)
  5. A 5K run will be held in memory of Wading River's Andrew McMorris at Enterprise Park in Calverton. The late Boy Scout, who died in 2018 after he and his troop were struck by a drunk driver while hiking in Manorville, will be remembered at "Andrew's Top Gun Run," hosted by the Suffolk County Council of the Boy Scouts of America and the Andrew McMorris Foundation on March 26.   • Patients at Stony Brook Children's enjoyed Christmas songs this month, from Stony Brook University students with the Instrument Petting Zoo. The interactive workshop normally plays at libraries and school, and now they will visit the kids once a month until May. (Greater Long Island)
