  1. MMS Community Library will host a fishing community program at Smith Point Bait Beach and Tackle. Participants will learn the basics of fishing for sport in the two-hour class on Monday, Aug. 1 at 6 p.m. (Patch)
  2. Suffolk attorney Ray Tierney is on the path to bringing ShotSpotter back to the neighborhoods where frequent shootings occur. Mastic/Shirley is on the list, along with eight other towns. The device can detect shooting with sensor technology. (Tri Hamlet News)
  3. New York State has approved the William Floyd School District to provide registered students with boxed meals from July 27 until Aug. 27. The boxes will contain breakfast and seven lunch meals. For more information, access here. (WFS District)
