Here are the top 4 stories today in Shirley-Mastic:

  1. A pickup truck was in flames in the driveway of a Shirley home on Tuesday night. The blaze started at a home on Wellwood Drive at 9:30 p.m. and was controlled just in time before spreading to propane tanks that were attached to a nearby camper, according to Mastic Fire Department officials. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is being investigated. (Patch)
  2. Brookhaven Town and Dime Bank are hosting a recycling drive to help the community to dispose of documents and prescription drugs. The drives are funded by a $4,000 donation from Dime Bank this year and are designed to help residents properly dispose of sensitive documents which can fall into the hands of identity thieves, and drugs that can be collected to be used by others.
