Suffolk To Add More Electrical Hookups At Campgrounds: Report
Southaven County Park will be the first with new electric hookups in 2023, Newsday reported.

SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY — Suffolk's Parks Department has asked for $5.6 million in capital budget funds between 2023 and 2027 to add electrical hookups to the county's campgrounds, Newsday reported.
There are currently 181 electrified campsites at Smith Point County Park in Shirley; 51 at Southaven County Park Campground in Shirley; 10 at Cathedral Pines County Park in Middle Island; and 37 at Indian Island County Park in Riverhead, according to the outlet.
But the parks department is planning to install electric hookups at other county parks over the next five to 10 years and the first new sites are coming to Southaven in 2023, the outlet reported.

Officials plan to electrify Cedar Point County Park in East Hampton in 2024, followed by Indian Island, Blydenburgh County Park in Smithtown, and Sears Bellows County Park in Hampton Bays, according to Newsday.
