He crashed into a parked car, fled and then returned before being picked up by officers, police say.

MASTIC, NY — A man was busted in Mastic for driving drunk behind the wheel of a car with his two young daughters inside on Saturday night, Suffolk police said.

Seventh Precinct Patrol officers responded to a location on Mastic Boulevard after a report of an unknown vehicle crashing into two parked cars at around 8:25 p.m., police said, adding that as the officers investigated the circumstances, Gerardo Gonzalez Ramos returned to the scene in a 2017 Honda with his daughters, a four-year-old and a six-year-old, in the vehicle.

While talking to the officers, Gonzalez Ramos displayed signs of intoxication and was placed under arrest, and the children were released to the custody of their mother, police said.
