SHIRLEY, NY — Suffolk County parks officials backpedaled plans to end the camping season at Smith Point County Park at the end of October to allow the Girl Scouts more time to set up for their holiday light show after campers complained, News 12 reported.

County officials announced on their Facebook page that the campgrounds, which serve as the location for the light show, would close on Oct. 24 to accommodate a request by the group for more time to set up.
