Here are the top four stories in Shirley-Mastic today:

  1. Bring an old sweater to the Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library on Wednesday, Dec. 14 at 4:40 p.m. to participate in the Ugly Sweater Decorating. The library will provide the supplies for you to decorate your sweater. So that you know, registration is not required.

  2. The William Paca Middle School chorus performed at the Mastic Fire Department Tree Lighting event. The group was under the direction of Maggie D’Orio. If you are interested in the presentation, visit the link to see a video. (Shirley-Mastic Patch)
  3. Patch has a Holiday Fire Prevention Checklist based on National Fire Prevention Association tips. Many families are busy shopping, cooking, and enjoying family time by the fireplace this time of the year but that's also when fire incidents happen more often. Visit the link to check the easy steps to keep your home safe this winter. (Patch)
  4. A woman was taken to Long Island Community in Patchogue with severe injuries from a car accident on Sunrise Highway. Police said the driver lost control of her 2019 Chevrolet and crashed into a street sign on Sunday night. (Patch)
