1. There will be a hiking event at the Wertheim Wildlife Refuge in Shirley. For those who want to enjoy the outdoors in the neighborhood, save the date for Feb. 11 at noon. This is a free event organized by Jane Fasullo. Participants are asked to meet at 340 Smith Rd., Shirley. (Sierra Club)

3. A family from Yaphank is suing social media platform Meta for allegedly being responsible for their daughter's depression and suicidal thoughts. The parents said Instagram made their daughter develop anxieties, self-harm, and social issues. Read the story here. (Greater Long Island)
