Woman Carjacked, 2 Suspects Nabbed On Long Island: Police

Three armed men grabbed the key fob for her BMW and too off; two were arrested in North Babylon, police say.

RIDGE, NY — A woman was carjacked at gunpoint in Ridge neighborhood Saturday and two of the three suspects were later arrested in North Babylon, Suffolk police said.

Three men, armed with guns, approached the woman on Oakridge Circle at around 10:40 p.m., grabbed her key fob out of her hand, and stole her BMW, according to police.

The woman was not in injure, police said.

Following an investigation, the BMW was located on Wicks Avenue in North Babylon just before midnight, police said, adding that a gun was found inside the vehicle and one of the suspects was seen nearby.

After a foot pursuit, Dayne Thomas-Orr, who had a gun, was arrested on Garnet Street at around 12:05 a.m. and a short time later, another suspect, Ameer Johnson, was arrested on Polaris Street at 1:17 a.m., police said.

The search for additional suspects is continuing, according to police.

Further details were not released.

Thomas-Orr, 18, of Centereach, and Johnson, 18, of Coram, were charged with first-and second-degree robbery. Thomas-Orr was additionally charged with third-and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Thomas-Orr's arraignment information was not available.

Johnson pleaded not guilty at his arraignment, and a temporary order of protection was issued, according to online court records. His bail was set at $50,000, $100,000 insured bond, or $500,000 partially secured surety bond, the records show.
