Woman's Body Found Floating In Water Off Of Suffolk Beach: Police

Investigators do not believe any criminality was involved, police said.

SHIRLEY, NY — The body of a woman was found in the water off of the coast of Shirley Beach on Sunday morning, Suffolk police said.

The woman was found floating near the shore off of Grandview Drive in Shirley just before 9 a.m., according to police.

Investigators do not believe any criminality was involved, a police spokeswoman said.

The woman has not yet been identified, and an autopsy will be conducted by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, police said.

Homicide squad detectives are investigating, according to a police spokeswoman.

It is a standard procedure for the squad to investigate all unattended deaths.
