Person Hit By Train At Canal Street Station, Police Say

A man is in critical condition after he was hit by a train at the Canal Street station on Thursday, police said.

SOHO, NY — A man was critcially injured after he was struck by a train at the Canal Street subway station on Thursday afternoon, police said.

The man, who is in his 60s, was hit by a southbound train on the J and Z tracks at about 3 p.m. on Thursday, an NYPD spokeswoman said. He was transported to the hospital and is in critical condition, according to authorities. It wasn't immediately clear how the man came to be on the tracks, police said.

All J train service in Manhattan was halted for about an hour while police investigated the incident, the MTA said.
