On April 22, 2024, Putnam County Sheriff Office deputies were called to a residential burglary in the Town of Southeast after receiving a report of a garage being broken into and all-terrain vehicles and a motorcycle being stolen.
Investigators initially had no identifying information on any of the suspects involved during the burglary, as they wore face coverings and gloves. Over several months, investigators reviewed surveillance videos and used other investigative tools in order to identify a target vehicle.

Once a target vehicle was identified, the investigation continued in collaboration with the Putnam County District Attorney's office (Assistant DA Melissa Lynch). Search warrants and subpoenas were used to obtain and analyze massive amounts of cell phone data and GPS data in order to identify the suspects in the burglary.
Searches conducted in Nassau and Suffolk counties, at the homes of Pierre-Louis and Slater, found several items of evidence, according to investigators.
In addition, forensic examinations of cellphones by investigators tied the suspects to the burglary.
Slater and Pierre-Louis were arrested in July 2024, while an arrest warrant was issued for co-defendant Dickinson, who was then arrested in January of 2025.
"The Putnam County Sheriff's Office, particularly John Hyla, and ADA Lynch, did fantastic work on this investigation," the DA's Office said in a statement. "These defendants were professional burglars, and they were apprehended by professional law enforcement agents. Great job."
The DA's office also thanked the victims of the burglary for their cooperation during the investigation and prosecution of the case.
