Carmel Police found marijuana on a 49-year-old Putnam Valley man who showed up at court, officials say.
The man was "attempting to attend Carmel Justice Court" at about 5:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to police.
"Upon subjecting his bag to a security search by Officer Frank Chibbaro before being allowed into the court room, Officer Chibbaro found a plastic bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana," authorities said in a statement.
Police charged the man with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. He was released and is due in court July 23.
