Help Community Member Going Overseas for Humanitarian Project

Jan Stark, a community member who has been active in the Brewster Rotary Club for years, is set to leave for his first overseas humanitarian project in two months.

Stark is hoping neighbors will chip in and support the mission.

Here's what he wrote about it on this GoFundMe page, which is still accepting donations.

In February 2014 I will be attending my first overseas humanitarian project in my life at the ripe young age of 55 and have chosen a medical/community services journey to the mountain region of the State of Colima, Mexico. My wife Mindi and I will be working with a strictly non-political organization called “Project Amigo” and you can view their web site at www.projectamigo.org . During our project week, (2/1/14 - 2/8/14), we will be assisting a team of medical & dental professionals in administering much needed care to those who are not as fortunate as we are here in the United States of America. We will also be bringing community based services and items to work camps, schools and orphanages.

As many of you know, I have been an active member of the Brewster Rotary Club and as a Rotarian; we frequently offer our services and/or raise money to fund similar humanitarian projects all across the globe. My wife Mindi and I have always had a strong desire to reach out to others in need and to be part of a “hands-on” program as Project Amigo, which by the way, is a Rotary International recognized organization.

About $125 has been raised. The goal is $10,000.
