Obituary: Barbara E. Kaplan of Brewster

Barbara E. Kaplan of Brewster, NY, passed away at home Wednesday morning July 12, 2023, at the age of 66.

Barbara was born December 4, 1956, in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of the late Paul and Martha (McCullough) Lohmeyer. After graduating High School Barbara attended Art School, she then received her bachelor’s degree from Pace University. In 1983 Barbara married Mark Kaplan in Briarcliff Manor where they lived until moving to Putnam Lake in 1984. After fifteen years they moved to Brewster and became members of St. Lawrence O’Toole Church. Barbara was a Home-Schooling Mother and was very active in Home Schoolers.

Besides her husband Mark, Barbara is survived by sons Peter T. Kaplan and his wife Isabel of Claymont, DE and Sam Kaplan and his girlfriend Rachel Hanson of Lynn, MA. She was predeceased by her son Gabriel in June of 1996. She was also predeceased by two brothers and her sister.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday July 15, 2023, at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Brewster at 10:30 am followed by the interment in St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery in Brewster.
