Obituary: Ferdinand Daniel de Bourbon

Mr. de Bourbon, who grew up in Patterson, will be buried at the Maple Avenue Cemetery.

Ferdinand Daniel de Bourbon grew up in Patterson, N.Y., the fourth oldest child of Filiberto de Bourbon and Lucia Vasquez de Cobo de Bourbon. Born on May 11, 1946, in NYC, he died at his New Milford, Conn. home in New Milford, Ct. on July 3, 2023, at age 77.

Ferdy, known to some as Fred, was a graduate of Carmel High School in Carmel, N.Y. He served in the US Navy as a reservist and did active duty during the Vietnam era. He graduated from Westchester Community College with a business degree and worked for Grand Union as a Manager for 23 years.

He was an avid Texas Hold’em poker player.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Jane de Bourbon and family that he treasured, daughter, Nicole de Bourbon; son, Alex de Bourbon; grandsons Calvin de Bourbon (Alessandria Tonry) and Cameron Belcourt; great-granddaughter Olivia de Bourbon, and great-grandson, Malachite de Bourbon. Three brothers survive: Francis of Los Angeles (Elizabeth); Anthony of Lansing, Mich. (Linda); and Charles of Delaware Water Gap, Pa. (Kim). He was predeceased by four siblings: Maria Elvira of New Canaan, Conn.; Philip, of Plano, Texas; Anne Elizabeth of Alexandria, Va.; and James of Gun Barrel, Texas. Four close cousins survive: Sister Maria Teresa of New Rochelle, N.Y.; Louis of Litchfield, Conn.; Michael of Pikeville, Ky. (Carol); and Marie B. Stone (Jonathan) of Las Vegas. He was predeceased by cousins John P. de Bourbon of San Diego, Calif. (Beverly), and Henry, of New Milford, Conn. Ferdy also leaves behind a brother-in-law, Brian Boland (Marie) of Frederick, Md., and close niece, Kathy Diomede (Larry) of East Haven, Conn. As well as several nieces and nephews, who remember him fondly.

The family will celebrate Ferdinand’s life with a Mass of Christian burial on Saturday, July 29th at 10:00 am at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church in Brookfield, Conn. Burial will follow at the Maple Ave. Cemetery in Patterson, NY.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his name can be made to the American Red cross. (Redcross.org).
