Obituary: Robert J. Skrobalak

Robert J. Skrobalak of Brewster, NY, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 2023, in Monroe, NC at the age of 79.

Bob was born November 20, 1943, in Ambridge, PA, son of the late Michael and Anna (Geara) Skrobalak. The youngest of nine children, Bob graduated from Ambridge High School in Ambridge, PA in 1961. On May 4, 1968, he married the love of his life, Rita Contray, in Baden, PA. They moved to Brewster, NY in 1981.

Robert worked as a General Manager for JC Penney for 40 years before retiring in 2009. He was an active member of the Westchester Radio Aero Modelers and enjoyed building and flying remote-controlled airplanes in his free time. He was an incredibly generous, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend.

He was also a skilled handyman and a passionate fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Robert is survived by his son Matthew Skrobalak of Los Angeles, CA; his daughter Erin Skrobalak of Waxhaw, NC; his grandchildren Madeline, Max and Alexandra Serafini; his sister Mary Bedekovich of Aliquippa, PA, and many cherished, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved, Rita in 2021 and his son Michael Skrobalak in 1999.

A private graveside service will be held at Milltown Rural Cemetery in Brewster, NY.
