Route 22: 'A Little Slower Now,' But 'A Lot Better Later'

The roadwork happening on Route 22 in Southeast isn't all that bothersome to Bill Flash [see the attached video], who can see the crews from his office window.

Flash, a financial advisor at Edward Jones on Milltown Road in Southeast, and a resident in the area, is confident that work will wrap up on time--completion is set for December--if not earlier.

"This crew has been doing a great job," he said. "I've seen them here on weekends, they're here early, and I'm just really impressed with how quickly and efficiently they're working on this."

After hearing about the long term plan for Route 22 from a state official at a Brewster Chamber of Commerce meeting some time ago, Flash was skeptical. That changed when the roadwork on the stretch of Route 22 between Doansburg Road and Route 312 was completed.

"It was very fast and it made a big difference, much bigger than I expected," he said. "So from that day forward I'm giving these guys the benefit of the doubt. They seem like they know what they're doing and I expect it to be a whole lot better when it's done."

The small inconveniences Flash experiences now, he said, will be worth the end result.

The project is aimed at realigning the highly congested intersection at Milltown Road and Route 22.
