Sheriff: Cash Taken During Armed Robbery at Southeast Gas Station

Authorities at the Putnam County Sheriff's Office are investigating an armed robbery that occurred early Monday morning at the BP Master Mart and Gas station in Southeast.
"At about 4:30 a.m. May 13, sheriff’s deputies and state troopers responded to the BP gas station, located at Route 22 after being dispatched to an armed robbery at that location," officials said in a statement Wednesday afternoon. "According to the attendant, an individual, dressed in black attire, entered the service station armed with a handgun. He pointed the gun at the attendant and
demanded money. The thief obtained a quantity of cash and fled to an awaiting car. The car was last seen heading northbound on Route 22. The attendant fled from the premises and was not injured."
Police searched the area for the perpetrator and the getaway vehicle, and investigators responded to the scene.
